Biography
My name is Oleg Kovalev, I am a Senior 3D Artist / Hard surface Artist.
The first ten years of my life I spent with my grandparents and my mother in Siberia, they are my foundation in this life. After that, I moved with my mother to Saint-Petersburg where we lived for another six years before moving to The Netherlands.
During my first ten years in The Netherlands, I focused on 3D Art and I graduated at “Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam” as a “Visual Effects Artist”. After that, I did work in the industry for a couple of years. But there was always one thing that I just couldn`t get out of my mind: “Acting”. I wanted to explore myself and my capabilities. Alongside working as a 3D Artist I went on to study that.
After a few years, I graduated from faaam (Film Actors Academy Amsterdam). After that, I had some great opportunities to play in TV shows, filming shorts, commercials, feature films, and TV series such as “Flikken Maastricht”(2022), “Zeven Kleine Criminelen”(2018), and a self-produced short film “Dead End”(2018). Doing all of that on a side of my main work and passion – 3D Art.
3D Art, VFX, Games, and Technology have always been my passion from the moment I received my first computer. I love hard surface modeling, especially modeling the vehicles and the process of figuring out the technical aspects of them. The amount of thought that goes into solving engineering challenges by engineers, fascinates me! Since the beginning of my carrière, I have worked primarily as a hard surface artist. Although I always explore ways to expand my scope, by exploring and learning other fields within 3D Art. Be it environment creation, photogrammetry, new tools, or the development of new optimized workflows – I just love this process!
